1. **[PiSSA: Principal Singular Values and Singular Vectors Adaptation of Large Language Models](https://md.research.elamur.ai/free/en/papers/meng-2024-pissa-principal-singular-values-singular/)** *(2024 · 86 citations)* LoRA is a widely used way to fine-tune large language models cheaply. It starts its two low-rank adapter matrices from random noise and zeros. The authors argue that this start gives weak, uninformative gradients early in training, so convergence is slow and may end in a worse solution.
2. **[Large Language Models are In-Context Semantic Reasoners rather than Symbolic Reasoners](https://md.research.elamur.ai/free/en/papers/tang-2023-large-language-models-context-semantic/)** *(2023 · 52 citations)* This work asks where the apparent few-shot reasoning skill of LLMs actually comes from. The authors argue that it depends largely on token meanings absorbed during pretraining, which let models link concepts into shallow shortcut chains instead of applying rules formally. To test this, they remove or invert semantics…
3. **[Law in Silico: Simulating Legal Society with LLM-Based Agents](https://md.research.elamur.ai/free/en/papers/wang-2026-law-silico-simulating-legal-society/)** *(2026 · 2 citations)* Testing legal theories or policies in the real world is often expensive or impossible. This paper asks whether LLM-driven agents can act as a stand-in "legal society" for such experiments. The authors build Law in Silico, a framework with three parts. Agents get hierarchical profiles drawn from sociological…
