## Papers

1. **[Predicate Catenae: A Dependency Grammar Analysis of It-Clefts](https://md.research.elamur.ai/free/en/papers/osborne-2019-predicate-catenae-dependency-grammar-analysis/)** *(2019)* An it-cleft such as "It was herself that Susan critiqued" has two finite verbs, yet the reflexive in the matrix clause is licensed by "Susan" in the embedded clause.
2. **[Control vs. Raising in English. A Dependency Grammar Account](https://md.research.elamur.ai/free/en/papers/osborne-2017-control-vs-raising-english-dependency/)** *(2017)* The paper argues that a dependency grammar cannot tell control predicates (prefer, ask, pretty) from raising predicates (seem, expect, tough) by tree shape alone, because both take a to-infinitive and get the same flat structure.
