The country listing gathers the universities, laboratories, companies and other bodies based in Vietnam whose scientists produced more than a single paper in the collection. It does not try to describe all research carried out in the country. It describes the part of that research that has reached this library and been linked to a Vietnamese institution. The listing ranks institutions by the cited work their scientists did there. A place earns its position through papers written by its researchers that later work has gone on to cite, not through its size or any outside measure. Every institution on the list at present is a university, and all of them are in one of two cities, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. It ranks first by the cited work of its scientists, and it is the only institution in the group whose papers in our library are shown with citations. Among the Vietnamese entries, it therefore has the clearest trace of papers that later research has drawn on.
